My six-year-old reads to herself every night now, and this headboard keeps her pillows from sliding off the bed while she leans back. It also doubles as a footboard on her twin, which is a nice bonus we didn't expect.
My youngest loves that we can prop pillows against it for story time without the whole thing sliding around. The finish is smooth enough that I don't worry about snags on her pajamas, and it's been a solid footboard for her old toddler bed too.
My daughter calls it her “storytime wall” now—the headboard gives just enough support for both of us to lean back while we read. It’s also kept the paint from getting scuffed, which was my main worry with a wiggly six-year-old.
